Job Title: Apprentice Sales Advisor

Reporting To: Branch Manager

What you’ll be doing
Working as part of the Personal Lines Branch Sales team, you will be provided with a comprehensive Apprentice Training Programme, in conjunction with Belfast Met, to support you to achieve your Level 2 / 3 Apprenticeship in Financial Services and with practical on the job training to enable you to sell personal lines insurance products, such as car, home, caravan, van, travel, etc. to our customers throughout Northern Ireland.

During, and on completion of your Apprenticeship Training programme you will be able to provide knowledgeable, tailored advice on our full range of products, including selling these within company set sales targets and managed through various performance metrics. You will also assist customers with their queries to include making changes to their policies and looking after their renewals the following year.

Your responsibilities

  • Providing expert and timely advice to new and existing customers regarding their personal insurance needs.
  • Providing quotations and setting up new policies, as well as dealing with policy adjustment and policy renewals.
  • Identifying all sales opportunities to identify any additional insurance products customers may benefit from.
  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints in accordance with company procedures, calmly and with empathy.
  • Achieving personal monthly targets whilst maintaining the correct standards of work and quality and as required by the Financial Conduct Authority (our regulator).
  • Be a role model for the Company, by always presenting a professional image.

General Duties
Complying with all relevant company policies and procedures, including health and safety procedures.
Carrying out any other roles /functions as necessary by the Branch Manager to support the effective operation of the branch.

Your role at a glance
It is a very customer focused sales role with the provision of exceptional customer service at the heart of everything you do and you will be working towards individual, and company set monthly targets.
There are no budgetary or staffing responsibilities.

Remuneration and Conditions of Employment

  • Initially, this is an 18 month Apprentice role. Once you have successfully completed your Apprentice Training Programme (and have attained your NVQ Level 2 qualification in Financial Services) you will be offered a permanent contract as Sales Adviser. We will also further support you to complete your NVQ Level 3 qualification in Financial Services.
  • Generous starting salary, increasing after 12 months and again upon completion of NVQ.
  • Hours of work; 36 ½ hours per week (flexible work patterns will be considered with a range of shifts from 8am-8pm upon successful completion of traineeship).
  • Starting off with 31 days annual leave which includes public and bank holidays with additional annual leave accruing based on length of service.
  • Company Pension Scheme, which staff are automatically enrolled into after 3-months at 5%, with the company matching up to 5% of their contribution.
  • Private Medical Insurance (currently with BUPA) is available for employees following successful completion of the probationary period, you can also add family members to your policy at discounted rates.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Essential: Must have English, Maths and ICT GCSE at grade C or above (if missing the required qualifications must have 5 x GCSE at C+ or equivalent and will complete required subject(s),with company support)
  • Desirable: 5 GCSE’s grade C or above

Experience

  • Essential: Computer literate
  • Desirable: Previous sales and/or customer service experience.

What you’ll be doing

We intend to become Northern Ireland’s insurance provider of choice. You’ll help us get
there by providing professional, knowledgeable advice to clients in respect of quotations,
adjustments, renewals and claims for all of their small and medium sized businesses.

Your responsibilities

  • Place all types of SME commercial risks within the market.
  • Identify opportunities for existing policyholders to benefit from additional covers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients and insurers.
  • Support the Commercial team in managing Commercial client accounts.
  • Making sure clients’ Commercial Insurance needs are met.
  • Preparing presentations for new and existing clients.
  • Providing prompt, expert advice to clients.
  • Identifying new Commercial prospects.
  • Maximising sales opportunities and achieving monthly/annual targets.
  • Renewing policies, processing mid-term adjustments and assisting clients with
    claims.
  • Ensuring client cases are completed promptly, accurately, and fully.
  • Adhering to FCA regulations and requirements.
  • Carrying out any other functions deemed necessary for the effective operation of the
    department. 

General Duties

  • This is a critical sales and support role that is heavily focused on clients.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, including health and safety
    procedures.
  • Carrying out any other tasks reasonably requested by your manager.
  • The Commercial division is seen as the growth area of the company, so this role
    demands a high level of initiative and dynamism from you.

Remuneration and Conditions of Employment

  • Salary dependent on experience and technical knowledge.
  • Monthly paid bonus.
  • Hours of work; 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
  • Starting on 20 days annual leave plus 11 statutory days, with additional annual leave
    accruing based on length of service.
  •  Company Pension Scheme, which employees are automatically enrolled into after 3
    months at 5%, with the Company matching up to 5% of their contribution.
  • Life Assurance – 2 times annual salary.
